Color Room and Stamp & Scrap Challenge

Hi all. Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

Today I am posting a page which qualifies for two different challenges. I created this page based on the Color Palette No. 7 over at the Color Room. This is the first page I created for the challenges there and really enjoyed it!! The page also happens to qualify for the latest challenge at Scrap & Stamp. The challenge is to use handmade flowers, and I just happened to crochet the yellow flowers on my page by myself. I stamped a leaf border stamp down the left & right side of the page. You might not see it but I used Versamark Ink. The stamp I used is by Hero Arts. Here is my page:

Thanks for dropping by my blog, I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Say it with ... Ribbon

Hi All. Yay, yay it's Friday!! So happy that it's weekend time!!

So... it's Friday, which means it's time for a new challenge at Annabelle Stamps, and the theme for this week is Ribbon!! Annabelle Stamps stocks a lovely range of ribbon, and I have used 3 different types on my card. The flowers, and lovely bling in the centre of the flowers are also available from Annabelle. The stamp set I used for the sentiment is the "Flowers with Love" set. Here it is:

Unfortunately the dark brown didn't photograph quite as well as I would have liked. So, we would love for you to play along with us this week. It's a super easy challenge, so you have no excuses not to get crafting and to link your card to the Annabelle Bling Challenge blog (click on the blinkie in my side-bar to link your card).

Also remember!! You have until next week Thursday midnight to enter your card for our Sketch Challenge where you stand a chance to win the lovely "Helen's Party" stamp set. All the details are in my side-bar.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend. It looks like we are finally going to get some winter weather, perfect to craft. Yay!!

Project Life ~ 17 May - 23 May

Tuesday...so it's Project Life Time. I am a bit late in posting my photos this week. It's test week for Caide this week, and lots of other activities on the go, so busy busy busy!! Only 2 weeks until they go on holiday for 5 weeks, so happy about that!! Thanks for stopping by again, would love to know what you think about our week here in South Africa!

Monday:
17 May:

Wanted to get a photo of the boy's hands. All very similar, and exactly like their Dad's! They also have his feet!

Tuesday:
18 May:

This is one of the wonderful farm scenes we pass on our way to pick up the boys from school. It is such a picturesque drive, and we are blessed to have the boy's school - Uelzen, in such a rural and beautiful setting!

Wednesday:
19 May:

Caide & Bryce were spinning tops in the drive-way this afternoon. I thought this would be the perfect idea for my POTD. I am SUPER happy with the way this photo turned out. The top is in perfect focus, and you can see all the grubby details of Caide's foot. He really is in need of a pedi!!

Thursday:
20 May:

I love this action shot of Bryce during one of his hockey games. We were in Newcastle for the 2nd day in a row today, this time for Bryce's mini-hockey tournament (yesterday it was for one 20 minute Bulletjies rugby game!). Bryce played really well, and got more involved with the action. Proud of you my boy! x

Friday:
21 May:

Ray LOVES his X-Box! I love that he has this hobby that he enjoys so much. It is what he does to unwind after a long hard week at work! So happy that he doesn't need to be out at the pub or on the golf course all weekend like some other husbands do!

Saturday:
22 May:

The boys were playing in the back garden this afternoon. Caide was pushing Jamie on his tricycle, and they were chasing Bryce. Bryce rushed inside and said "Mom, come and take a photo of us!". I love when they think their little activities are worth remembering!

Sunday:
23 May:

We were officially welcomed into the Methodist Church this morning, which was lovely. Afterwards we came home and Ray cooked us a delicious lunch!! Love the fact that on the weekends my special hubby takes over the cooking responsibilities. Especially when he looks so cute wearing his apron!!

Thanks for stopping by, I look forward to checking out what you have all been up to in the past week. x
P.S. If you click on the photo you can see a much bigger version of it.

A new sketch at Scrapbook Challenges

It's Monday which means Pamela will be posting a new sketch over at Scrapbook Challenges. It's another fab one I must say, and made me think a bit outside my box. I NEVER cut my photos into circles! Must say it made a nice change and this layout was perfect for the page I had in mind!! I had these photos of Ray I wanted to scrap, and I love the male and quite edgy feel my page has! Anyway, here is the sketch:

SKETCH 201:

And here is my page:

The journaling on this page reads ~ In your line of work you are not able to wear a wedding band, so in a wonderfully romantic gesture you got a band tattooed on your finger for our 12th wedding anniversary. I love you more today than I did 12 years ago, and am so touched that, despite your fear of needles you did this for me!

The title & arrows were cut with my Slice. I ran the lettering through my Cuttlebug, and the stars & circle stamps are by Hero Arts. I also used one of my lovely EK Success border punches.

Thanks for stopping by to look at my page. Why not drop by Scrapbook Challenges to see what it's all about!

Annabelle Bling Challenge - ABS022

It's Friday which means it's time for another challenge over at Annabelle Stamps!! Today we are playing with a fun sketch from Teresa one of my fellow DT gals. Here is the sketch:

I normally follow a sketch quite rigidly, but this time I decided to rotate the sketch, and do it landscape rather than portrait! Here is my take on the sketch:

For my card this week I used a cute flower image and sentiment from the "Flowers with Love" set. This really is one of my favourite sets as it comes with 5 great sentiments and a whole bunch of great flower stamps!! The ribbon I used on my card is also available from Annabelle Stamps as well as the yummy Pineapple and Brown Sprinkles!!

REMEMBER this is a prize challenge!! So you have 2 weeks to create a card and link it to our challenge. Just click on the Annabelle Bling Challenge link in my side-bar and link your card there. All you need to do is follow the above sketch and add some bling where indicated on the sketch. The stamp set that is up for grabs is the "Helen's Party" set. This is definitely one of my faves, and I have used this set on numerous cards!! This is a fun and easy challenge, so we would love for you to take part!! Please stop by all my fellow DT girl's blogs, they have all created some lovely cards this week!!

Project Life ~ 10 May - 16 May

It's that time of the week again. This week looks like it is going to be crazy busy too. Bryce has sport away 3 times this week! Caide is starting his end of term tests and we are trying to get Jamie into a bit of a routine going to pre-school twice a week. Thanks for stopping by to look at my photos again this week!

Monday:
10 May:

My drive-way is constantly in a mess at the moment, but it is a lovely mess. Our little town is really so pretty in autumn!! I am loving the changing of the seasons!!

Tuesday:
11 May:

Jamie had his first day at pre-school today. It went a lot better than I expected it too!! We realised when we were down in Pennington this past weekend, seeing him with his cousins that he really doesn't know how to interact with children his own age!! He is used to being around his older brothers, and when he is around smaller kids he doesn't know what to do with himself!! I am happy he is going to be getting some more stimulation too! There were a few tears, but not too many!

Wednesday:
12 May:

I ADORE these gorgeous orange honey-suckle plants that grown on the wall by our front door. They make such a stunning show, and certainly add a lot of prettiness to the front appearance of our house!

Thursday:
13 May:

I had to take a photo of our first (small) frost to record what is happening with our seasons. This global warming thing is VERY scary!! I can remember years ago, that by this time of the year it was really cold already, we had had many harsh frosts by now!! Ray spoke to a farmer who said our season is at least a month behind where we should be. Each winter it gets warmer and warmer. I shudder to think what it is going to be like in the years to come!

Friday:
14 May:

Jamie loves to play in the bath!!! If you just give him a few little plastic containers, he could play for hours! I love it when he gets totally absorbed in what he is doing. So happy to capture this moment.

Saturday:
15 May:

We had a really lazy start to the day this morning, it was lovely!! The boys stayed in their p.j's until quite late into the morning, and had a blast playing with their Lego again. I LOVE the fact that they have rediscovered their love for their Lego. Seems like I am taking quite a few photos of them with their creations in the last month or so!

Sunday:
16 May:

This morning we were running late for church, again!! We always seem to run late when we go to church. Anyway, I was running out of time to do all my chores and asked Caide if he would hang up the bit of washing for me. He of course agreed! Caide really is my helper boy, and I rely on him quite heavily for certain things. Our relationship has improved so much this year, and I am overjoyed that we are loving each other again. His year at Ichthus put an awful strain on us, and I am so happy that this has changed! Love you special boy!

Thanks so much for stopping by again this week. Hope you are all continuing with your Project Life photos, this really is an awesome way to capture your families memories!

Here is my page I made for my DT work at Scrapbook Challenges!

We would love for you to come and play along!

Say it in...white!

Morning everyone. Wow, I can't believe how this week has flown by!! Friday arrived a day early for me, that's how busy my week has been, I didn't know whether I was coming or going. LOL!!

So....our challenge over at Annabelle Stamps this week is to create a card in WHITE! I didn't think this would be too difficult, but I have NEVER made a just white card before!! At the end of the process I was quite happy with my card, but not super happy with the way it photographed, it looks a lot better in real life! So, here is my card with a few close-up shots, so you can see some of the detail you are not able to see in the main card photo.

I used the "Flowers with Love" set for the image and sentiment that I stamped onto the card. I used some Opaque Vanilla embossing powder which is available at Annabelle Stamps. The flowers and heart pearls are also available from Annabelle. I added a bit of Icicle Stickles to the flowers and used 2 different embossing folders for texture.

I hope you will play along with us in this challenge. A white card is perfect for a wedding, anniversary or christening card! You have 2 weeks to get your card together. And REMEMBER you still have 1 week left to enter our Sketch challenge where you can win the lovely stamp set shown in my side-bar!! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. xx

Sketch 199 @ Scrapbook Challenges

Every Monday Pamela posts a new sketch over at Scrapbook Challenges. As part of my DT responsibilities I have to make a page based on that sketch. This Monday's sketch was a fabulous one to work with, and I was super pleased with the way my page turned out. I usually try not to do pink pages for my boys, but couldn't resist this time around. Sorry Jamie!! Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout:

If you are looking for a fun scrappy place to hang out, why not join us a Scrapbook Challenges!!

Project Life ~ 3 May - 9 May

For the first time since starting this project I am feeling a bit behind!! We were away this weekend, so I feel like I am running a bit backwards this week! So my journaling is going to be short & sweet!

Monday:
3 May:

It is starting to look a lot like Autumn around here. In this photo I was trying to capture all the leaves on the grass behind the boys, didn't work out so well!

Tuesday:
4 May:

I finally got my new phone! I decided to go for a bit of a downgrade with my upgrade this time. The thinking behind this move was so that I could get vouchers for the difference to put towards a new camera lens. It is a Samsung Corby and is a touch screen, it is taking me some time to get used to it!!

Wednesday:
5 May:

Dean (Bryce's friend from Ichthus) came and played for a bit after school today. The boys decided a game of soccer was in order. It was nice for them to do something a bit different in the afternoon!

Thursday:
6 May:

Today Bryce and I drove through to Ladysmith for his hockey tournament. It was a long but fun afternoon. His team played 3 games, lost 1 and won 2. He played in goals for the first game, which was a bit of a change for him. In the 2nd and 3rd game he was able to play up a bit more which was better.

Friday:
7 May:

We drove down to Pennington today, for our special anniversary weekend. We left at 11:00am and only got down to Pennington at about 5:15pm. We stopped in Pietermaritzburg on the way down so that I could get my new lens and some lovely scrapping goodies. It was a long, but very good day!!

Saturday:
8 May:

Today was a fabulous day. You know how when you really look forward to something, it usually doesn't turn out quite as nicely as you had hoped it would. Today was exactly what I had hoped it would be. In the morning Ray went and got his wedding band tattoo, and the rest of the day we spent shopping. Just Ray and I, and it was lovely. The evening was spent in our lovely garden cottage at Selbourne and having a delicious dinner. It was Divine to have some "us" time!!

Sunday:
9 May:

Today was our 12 year Anniversary and Mother's Day! We started the day off with a yummy big breakfast at Selbourne and then spent the rest of the day at the golf range with the rest of the family. It was a full, fun & wonderful day. We only got back to Dundee at 6:00pm! Overall it was a wonderful weekend!!

Thanks so much for stopping by again this week. Hope your last week wasn't quite as hectic as mine!!

Don't forget, if you are not a Follower, and you stop by regularly, I would love for you to become one!
